Friends of Bassett

In 1968, area residents formed the Friends of Bassett to support Bassett Healthcare's three-fold mission and to ensure continuation of Bassett’s unique vision of health-care delivery and humanistic values. Today, the nonprofit organization is comprised of community and business leaders, families and foundations. The Friends’ combined energies, commitment and financial support continuously advance the programs and services that Bassett provides throughout central New York.

The Friends has been instrumental in helping Bassett achieve its goals by organizing successful capital campaigns. On the home page, enter the “Initiative for Maternal and Child Care at Bassett Hospital” square to learn more about the Friends’ current $500,000 effort to expand and modernize Bassett Hospital’s Birthing Center and Pediatrics Unit or click the “Bassett Heart Care Campaign” link to review the success of our last campaign.

Another new link on the home page is “Friends of Bassett’s Honorary Giving Groups.” Enter and become familiar with the Friends honorary groups of donors. The annual contributions of members of the Chairman’s Circle, President’s Forum and Bassett Employees’ Breakfast Club, and deferred gift plans made by members of The Cupola Society are foundational to the establishment of Bassett’s programs, services, life-saving technologies and campus renovations.

Special fund-raising events, such as the annual Bassett Invitational and the Bassett New Year’s Eve Gala, benefit timely Bassett initiatives. Review our upcoming and recent fund-raisers in the Special Events pages.

Online, in person and in print, the Friends continues to emphasize the importance of investing in regional health care. The “Annual Fund” section and “Ways to Give” explain how a contribution or multiyear pledge – either undesignated in support of the Friends Annual Fund or designated to a specific Bassett initiative – honors Bassett’s innovative past and helps ensure continued advancements in rural health care delivery today and tomorrow.
