To meet the challenge of contemporary health care, Bassett relies on the understanding and financial commitment of donors who contribute to Bassett through the Friends of Bassett’s Annual Fund or who designate their gifts to a specific Bassett project, such as the current $500,000 fund-raiser, the Initiative for Maternal and Child Care at Bassett Hospital.
When an individual or business donates to the Friends at the President’s Forum–level or Chairman’s Circle–level, a Bassett employee joins the Bassett Employees’ Breakfast Club or a family member includes the Friends in his or her will and becomes a member of The Cupola Society, they help Bassett grow. Their contributions help Bassett advance the quality of its services and programs, personnel and equipment, as well as its facilities. Their support of Bassett’s mission assists a highly rated, professional medical staff in caring for patients. Such support helps to inspire the nursing staff to compassionate excellence, which was recognized in 2004 by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) with a Magnet Recognition for Excellence in Nursing Service.
President's Forum
To show its appreciation of donors who contribute $1,000-and-above annually, the Friends offers membership in the President’s Forum, Bassett’s support group of civic and business leaders. The Friends recognizes the generosity and commitment of members by offering many thoughtful considerations, including invitations to quarterly President’s Forum Breakfasts at The Otesaga Hotel.
The President’s Forum listing is composed of donors who contributed a minimum of $1,000.

The Cupola Society
The Cupola Society was initiated in 1992 to recognize donors who invest in Bassett through planned giving options. Bequests and deferred gifts made to the Friends of Bassett Annual Fund or to support specific programs or facilities throughout the Bassett Healthcare system assure a continuum of Bassett’s services, programs and providers. Farsighted donors who make planned gifts as a memorial, in tribute of a loved one or who want to express their gratitude to Bassett for special care often are able to give back more than they thought possible.
The Friends honors the following individuals who expressed their faith in Bassett’s future by their foresight and generosity in making a bequest or planned gift.

Bassett Employees’ Breakfast Club
In addition to their committed work each day, many Bassett employees demonstrate their united support of Bassett Healthcare’s mission by joining the Bassett Employees’ Breakfast Club. By contributing $100 or more annually to vital Bassett initiatives, such as the Bassett Heart Care Institute, The Birthing Center/Pediatrics Unit expansion and relocation project, the Medical Education Endowment Fund or the Friends of Bassett’s Annual Fund, they help Bassett raise the standards of rural health care. Their valuable support benefits the institution, its hospitals, patients and their families as well as Bassett’s medical staff. This powerful expression of support from the Bassett community also encourages gifts from corporations, foundations, patients and friends.
To honor Breakfast Club members, the Friends of Bassett hosts an annual breakfast at The Otesaga Hotel that is attended by Dr. Streck and other Bassett decision makers.
