Individual Giving

Consider the following ways through which you can make a contribution to the Annual Fund.

GIFTS OF CASH
A gift of cash is the most common and immediate means of support. Did you know that the federal government allows unlimited gifts to charitable organizations such as the Friends of Bassett? Gifts must be made by December 31 in the tax year for which you plan to take a deduction.

PLEDGES: COMMIT NOW, PAY LATER
Many donors utilize the benefits of a five-year pledge payment schedule to make a contribution to Bassett. This win-win option enables a donor to take advantage of a tax credit for the year that a pledge payment is made, and enables Bassett to base its future plans on accountable income.

GIFTS OF APPRECIATED SECURITIES
A range of securities can be used to make gifts to Bassett. Such assets include publicly traded stocks, mutual funds, Treasury bills, notes and closely held stock. Usually a donor either holds securities in an account with a stockbroker or has the stock certificates in his or her possession.

Depending on how a donor's securities are held, transfer of securities differs. For specific information, including the Friends of Bassett's tax identification number, which allows the securities or their proceeds to be transferred by your stockbroker or banker, please call the Friends Office.

MEMORIAL & TRIBUTE GIFTS
Make your Annual Fund gift in memory or in honor of a person who has been important to you or your family. The Annual Fund is a vehicle for you to make an enduring gift that memorializes a beloved family member or pays tribute to someone who has played a significant role in your life.

Many donors express their gratitude for the personal care, the expertise of our compassionate providers or the technologically advanced treatment that they or a loved one received in the Bassett Healthcare system.

For more information on memorial or honorary gifts or to set up an appointment with the Friends of Bassett's Planned Giving Consultant, please contact the Friends of Bassett office.
