RESTRICTED FUNDS

Often donors want to support specific health-related causes that have special meaning to them, their families or their businesses. An efficacious way is to fulfill such an intention is to direct your contribution to one or more of Bassett Healthcare’s restricted funds.

Focused on a specific health-related purpose or cause, restricted funds at Bassett Healthcare provide permanent income to specific programs, services, facilities or endowments.

The following list of restricted funds offers a range of giving opportunities. Donors may support almost any program, department or facility. If you have an interest not highlighted here, please contact Scott A. Barrett at: scott.barrett@bassett.org.

Bob Simon/Loretta Anagnost Patient Assistance Fund
The fund was created by Bob and Alice Simon and later augmented by John Anagnost in memory of his wife Loretta to help people who find themselves in financial distress during or after treatment for cancer. Money is available for mammograms, medications, transportation and other medical necessities.

Fieldstone Assistance Fund
The Fieldstone Assistance Fund provides support to Bassett employees who are experiencing financial hardship. Bassett Healthcare contributed $5,000 to seed the fund and will match every dollar contributed with 50 cents. Monies are allocated by a committee of employees. To be eligible, a Bassett employee must hold at least a .75 full-time position and be employed one year.

The Nightingale Fund for Nursing Excellence
The Nightingale Fund simplifies the process of designating a gift in honor of our nursing staff or an individual nurse to Bassett. Patients and their families who want to express their appreciation for professional care can easily make a contribution to the fund.

Tribute Fund
Charitable care at Bassett Healthcare includes the Tribute Fund, which provides financial assistance for patients who cannot pay for their hospital care. In some cases, the fund also provides for prescriptions and special medical equipment.

UpClose Cardiac Surgery Program
Created by Chief of Cardiac Surgery Dr. Robert Lancey, the UpClose program brings junior high school students from across the region to Bassett Hospital for discussions centered on leading heart-healthy lives. Leading Bassett health professionals discuss the dangers of smoking, the benefits of regular exercise and how to make healthy food choices with students. After a heart-healthy lunch, students view a video of an open-heart operation or an actual operation.
